Dutch meaning: special scenario or adventure edition

Illumineer’s Quest is a special Disney Lorcana product line that offers a different gaming experience than a standard duel. Depending on the specific release, you play alone or cooperate against an automated opponent or scenario.

Each Quest can contain its own rules, difficulty levels, cards, and game components. Therefore, always check the official product content.

Dutch meaning: suitable for use as ink

An inkable card may be placed facedown into your Inkwell from your hand during normal ink placement. Inkable cards are recognizable by the official symbol around the printed Ink Cost.

You may normally use one suitable card from your hand as ink once per turn. Once in the Inkwell, the card is no longer treated as its original card type.

Dutch meaning: ink costs

The Ink Cost is the number in the top left corner of a card and normally indicates how much ink you must pay to play the card.

Abilities, Shift, Singer, and other effects can adjust the relevant Cost or provide an alternative payment method.

Dutch meaning: distribution of cards per cost level

The Ink Curve shows how many cards a deck contains at each cost level. A balanced curve increases the chance that you can play a useful card during several consecutive turns.

A fast deck usually uses relatively many cheap cards, while a Control deck can make more room for expensive cards and powerful late-game effects.

Dutch meaning: ink type

An Ink Type is one of the six colors within Disney Lorcana: Amber, Amethyst, Emerald, Ruby, Sapphire, and Steel.

A regular Constructed deck may contain cards from a maximum of two ink types. Dual-Ink Cards count for both ink types listed on the card.

Dutch meaning: inkwell symbol

The Inkwell Symbol around the Ink Cost indicates that a card may normally be placed into the Inkwell from your hand.

If the symbol is missing, the card is normally Uninkable. Specific Abilities may deviate from the standard rule.

Infinity Constructed is a format in which cards from all Disney Lorcana main sets can be combined, as long as the cards are legal within the format.

An Item is a card type that normally remains in your Play Area after being played. Items often provide Static, Triggered, or Activated Abilities.

A Lore Counter is a tool that each player uses to keep track of their own Lore. This can be a rotatable counter, die, app, or other clear tool.

The counter must be clearly legible to all players and display the current Lore during the game.

Dutch meaning: lore value

The Lore Value indicates how much Lore a Character normally collects when it quests. The value is displayed with lore symbols on the card.

Locations can also have a Lore Value and automatically yield Lore at the appropriate moment.

Dutch meaning: main phase

The Main Phase is the part of your turn where you perform most actions. You can, among other things, place ink, play cards, quest, challenge, use Abilities, and move Characters.

These allowed actions may normally be performed in an order of your choice and interchanged with each other.

Dutch meaning: moving a Character to a Location

Move refers to moving a Character to a Location you control. You normally pay the Move Cost of the relevant Location for this.

Moving is not a Quest or Challenge and does not normally automatically exert the Character.

Dutch meaning: movement cost

The Move Cost is the amount of ink you must pay to move a Character to the relevant Location.

The value is on the Location. After payment, you visually place the Character at the Location.

Dutch meaning: playing with more than two players

Multiplayer is a Disney Lorcana match with three or more players. Each player plays in a fixed turn order and generally tries to achieve the victory condition individually.

With multiple opponents, timing, targets, and the order of Triggered Abilities are extra important.

Dutch meaning: opponent

An Opponent is any other player who is not you. In a standard match, you have one opponent; in Multiplayer, multiple players can be considered Opponents.

When a card text mentions "an opponent," you determine which opponent is affected according to the card text and timing rules.

Dutch meaning: owner of the card

The Owner is the player whose deck or game materials the card originally belongs to. The Owner normally remains the same player, even if another player temporarily gains control of the card.

When a card is sent to the Owner's Hand, Deck, or Discard Pile, it goes to the owner's respective zone.

Dutch meaning: public information

Public Information is game information accessible to all players. Examples include cards in the Play Area, cards in the Discard Pile, existing Damage, and current lore scores.

Hand cards, face-down decks, and cards in the Inkwell are normally Private Information.

Dutch meaning: playmat

A Playmat is a soft surface on which you play Disney Lorcana cards. The mat protects cards from a hard, dirty, or rough table and makes cards easier to pick up.

A Playmat is not mandatory for a casual game, but is practical for players and collectors.

A Pre-order is an order placed before the webshop release of a product. Delivery takes place as soon as the product is available and the order can be shipped in full.

The availability of Disney Lorcana pre-orders may depend on allocation by Ravensburger and suppliers.

Private Information is information not freely accessible to opponents. Examples include your Hand, the order of your Deck, and the fronts of cards in your Inkwell.

An Ability or rule may temporarily allow certain hidden information to be viewed or revealed.

A Promo Card is a special card variant distributed, for example, through events, promotions, or special products.

The Ready Step is the first part of the Beginning Phase. During this step, you normally ready your applicable exerted cards again.

Readying does not remove Damage and does not automatically resolve all beginning-of-turn Abilities.

A Character with Reckless normally cannot quest. If the Character can perform a valid Challenge according to the rules, it must fulfill the applicable Reckless obligation at the end of the turn.

The precise rules determine when a Challenge is actually possible and how multiple obligations are handled.

The Release Date is the scheduled date on which a Disney Lorcana product becomes available or may be shipped through a specific sales channel.

Removal is a strategic collective term for cards or effects that remove or temporarily disable an opponent's threat.

Removal can banish a Character, deal Damage, return a card to the Hand, or otherwise neutralize it.

Resist +X reduces the amount of Damage a card would normally receive by the indicated number.

Resist only protects against Damage. It does not automatically prevent a card from being banished, returned, or otherwise removed.

Resource is a general strategic term for means that allow you to perform actions. In Disney Lorcana, ink, cards in hand, Characters in play, and time within the game are important Resources.

Good Resource Management means using these resources efficiently and not giving them up unnecessarily.

Dutch meaning: the red ink type

Ruby is one of the six Disney Lorcana ink types. Ruby is often associated with direct Removal, speed, Challenges, and powerful threats.

The specific playstyle depends on the cards, set legality, and the chosen second Ink Type.

The Set Number identifies the main set from which a card originates. It is displayed at the bottom of the card along with the card number and other collection information.

Dutch meaning: singing a Song together

Sing Together X allows multiple suitable Characters to work together to sing a Song. The Characters are exerted, and their relevant Costs are combined according to the official rules.

The combined value must be sufficient for the required Sing Together value. The Characters used must normally be ready and not dry.

Dutch meaning: increased value when singing Songs

Singer X means that a Character, when singing a Song, is normally treated as if it has the indicated Cost.

A Character with a low printed Cost can therefore sing a more expensive Song. The Character must otherwise be suitable for singing and is exerted for it.

A Sleeve is a protective cover in which one card is placed. Sleeves help protect cards from wear, dirt, moisture, and minor damage.

For a playable deck, identical, opaque sleeves are normally used so that cards cannot be distinguished from each other on the back.

A Starter Deck is an officially pre-constructed Disney Lorcana deck that allows one player to start immediately. It normally contains a fully playable deck with two ink types.

A Static Ability is continuously active as long as the card and all applicable conditions are present.

Tempo describes the advantage a player gains by using their own Resources and turns more efficiently than their opponent.

A cheap card that temporarily or completely neutralizes a more expensive card can provide a tempo advantage. Tempo is a strategic term and not an official Keyword.

Dutch meaning: harde beschermhouder voor één kaart (hard protective holder for one card)

A Toploader is a sturdy plastic card holder that provides extra protection to a card against bending and impacts.

A card is usually first placed in a suitable Sleeve and then slid into the Toploader. Toploaders are mainly used for valuable collectible cards.

Dutch meaning: automatisch geactiveerde eigenschap (automatically activated ability)

A Triggered Ability automatically reacts when the described event occurs. Recognizable phrases include "When", "Whenever", and "At the start".

The Ability is handled according to the timing rules and can be placed in the Bag along with other Triggers.

Dutch meaning: beurt (turn)

A Turn is one player's complete turn. The turn begins with the Beginning Phase, including Ready, Set, and Draw, and then transitions into the Main Phase.

During the Main Phase, the active player can perform allowed actions in an order of their choosing.

Vanish is a Keyword that is activated when an opponent chooses the card for an applicable Action or Ability.

A Webshop Release is the date on which The Great Illuminary may make a Disney Lorcana product available online or ship it, according to the applicable schedule.
